Question(s):

Welcome @gverdian for our biweekly AMA. Congratulations on INATBA and great to see the details of the hackathon emerge.

Answer(s):

Thank you for INATBA. It's such a huge initiative and we're honoured to be a founding member to help achieve the vision and goal.

The scale of INATBA is not just for the EU but International, supported by the EU (European Commission) to help with the following: 1) Maintain a permanent and constructive dialogue with public authorities and regulators that will contribute to the convergence of regulatory approaches to blockchain and other distributed ledger technology globally. 2) Promote an open, transparent and inclusive global model of governance for blockchain and other distributed ledger technology infrastructures and applications. A model that reflects the shared interests of stakeholders from industry, start-ups and SMEs, civil society organisations, governments and international organisations. 3) Support the development and adoption of interoperability guidelines, specifications and global standards, to enhance trusted, traceable, user-centric digital services. Upholding an open, transparent and inclusive method of multi-stakeholder cooperation. 4) Develop sector-specific guidelines and specifications for the development and acceleration of trusted sectorial blockchain and DLT applications in specific sectors (i.e. financial services, health, supply chain, energy and financial inclusion).

Question(s):

How have these two weeks been for the team, what have they done, anything you would like to share with us?

Answer(s):

Colin and Gerald also presented at the British Computer Society last week in Leeds on blockchain, interoperability and Overledger.

I attended a roundtable at Nesta - on how to help foster adoption with the appropriate ecosystem, regulation and support.

We also met with Oracle as we tweeted at their office plus had a lot of client meetings and calls.

One thing we've done recently for the FCA is apply with a partner in Australia for the GFIN call for cross border innovation. We're excited to be potentially working with this use case powered by Overledger.

Question(s):

Many community members have expressed interest in using Overledger and many are looking forward to the release of Overledger.com. Can you tell us more on what to expect with this site? Also, are there any webinars planned similar to the IWOMM event?

Answer(s):

we're adding more content, videos, tutorials etc to help Enterprise understand the capabilities of our technology and developers to engage.

We're supporting the ADC Global Blockchain Summit in Adelaide and will be using the approach and content from the event. We'd like to showcase new mApps that are built from the hackathon and future hackathons

Question(s):

Q: Are you aware of the Global Shipping Business Network (GSBN) in China? They are using oracle blockchain platform to connect and enable collaboration among carriers, terminals, shippers, and forwarders throughout the supply chain.

There's a few trade finance and supply chain consortiums and platforms.

Question(s):

With growing client demand in the United States, has a decision been made on the expansion plans?

Answer(s):

Yes, we have been exploring this with a lot of focus and will be able to provide an update shortly.

Question(s):

Q: Paul Ferris from ObjectTech recently presented at Westminster Energy, Environment & Transport Forum in Westminster on UK ports and Brexit, to ensure UK ports are placed to compete with Rotterdam, Hamburg and Antwerp. Is there potential for Overledger to interconnect these smart-port initiatives?

Answer(s):

We did meet with the team at ObjectTech this week again and continuing discussions

Question(s):

Last year we had a great launch event Quant X. You had previously mentioned that September may be the month in which you host the annual event. Can we expect another Quant X this year, and will it be in September/London?

Answer(s):

Yes, we're planning it to be done annually and in September. We are looking at the venue and agenda and planning for it. Like to make it bigger than last year

Question(s):

Q: Will INATBA provide financing towards blockchain-related Collective Awareness Programs for Sustainability and Social Awareness (CAPS), such as MyHealthMyData - a high-profile Italian blockchain project that aims to decentralise personal medical and health data?

Answer(s):

Q: Will INATBA provide financing towards blockchain-related Collective Awareness Programs for Sustainability and Social Awareness (CAPS), such as MyHealthMyData - a high-profile Italian blockchain project that aims to decentralise personal medical and health data?
We can't tell at the moment. INATBA is legally less than a week old since incorporating on the 6th March 2019

Question(s):

We noticed the new Partners section on the site - looks great! We also hadn't heard much about UKCloud and AWS. What is the extent of these 'Partners'? Is Overledger just being offered as a service available on the AWS Platform? Can we expect some additional information on UKCloud involvement?

Answer(s):

We're making a lot of changes to our external facing channels. We can update what we're doing with partners and make the appropriate announcements as they're lined up. More to come

Gilbert Verdian

We're working with existing partners to provide updates on what we're working on and lining up new partnerships that haven't been discussed as yet.

Question(s):

Q: "Previously, you introduced Quant developers as the "resident Bitcoin Guru" or as an ETH expert, or proficent in Ripple. As Overledger expands its scope of chains, such as Stellar and Corda, will you be hiring "resident experts" to manage these connectors? How will Overledger develop its suite of connectors otherwise?"

Answer(s):

Yes we are hiring experts that specialise in particular technologies plus also opening them up to the community to contribute with our support and QA checks. We have 2 new roles we're putting out shortly to help fill a gap

Question(s):

Are you guys presenting at Consensus in May or just attending?

Answer(s):

Luke
Are you guys presenting at Consensus in May or just attending?
We're attending Consensus in May and already have meetings lined up with potential clients and banks with a new partner we're going to market with

Gilbert Verdian

Waiting to hear back about doing a talk/presentation

Question(s):

Q:The overledger technology as it stands right now, could this also be used for projects like DEXes to implement cross-chain trading, or is it mainly targeting connecting enterprises to different blockchains in a seamless manner?

Answer(s):

You know, we had that discussion with a very large US financial services company last week. I think it's time to realise and acknowledge that traditional FS companies are very active in this space now. They bring regulation, governance and mass market capabilities with lots of institutional and retail clients. The news in the last couple of weeks with JPM, Fidelity Digital Asset, SIX, Deutsche Borsche is a pivital moment where digital assets are accepted and embraced. It's only going to get bigger!

Question(s):

Has the team reached out to Zcash foundation? JP Morgan has hinted on using Zero Knowledge security logic from Zcash in their quorum blockchain. Opportunity to collaborate is always there with Quant 😉

Answer(s):

We haven't spoken to the Zcash team. We already have our version of Zero Knowledge Proofs with our TrustTag technology implemented and live in Overledger. Imagine the possibilities of what can done on permissionless blockchains while maintaining confidentiality!

Question(s):

How has the development of ISO TC 307 gone in conjunction with Overledger's design? Is there a close relationship between the reference architecture of 307 and Overledger? Do you anticipate multiple 307 compliant Overlay services to emerge besides Quant's, and, if so, how would there be reconciliation between these implementations?

Answer(s):

We're very active in the different TC307 work groups and study groups, by chairing the UK mirror commitee DLT/1 at the BSI and also founding TC307 in 2015. I now chair SG7 which is the Interoperability study group where we're creating an interoperability framework for the ISO Standard. We're actively contributing and shaping the work happening across ISO. Like any other technology company, we'll make sure our tech complies to the Standard when it is finalised and released

Question(s):

An often overlooked aspect of your vision is to link the Internet itself to Blockchain via Overledger. You refer to Quant IPs. Could you briefly discuss what Quant IPs are and they how the work in conjunction with Overledger?

Answer(s):

That work is a longer term vision. But we've had a breakthrough for Internet 4.0 which we call the Internet of Trust. We've managed to deliver the Web with HTML1.0 across multiple blockchains using Overledger. We're serving web content in HTML across multiple networks without the need for web servers, databases etc. It's only the beginning and we're excited to see where this goes! We demoed the first version of this at QuantX in November and will be releasing an update to this

Question(s):

How does the roadmap for exchanges look, liquidity will be a growing issue as we approach the launch of Treasury? Are we still expecting an OTC exchange, or another one under NDA? Also, as the space matures and your natural collaboration with large Enterprises and Corporates, will large regulated exchanges be a point of interest for you? Thank you.

Answer(s):

We have delivered so far on our exchange strategy. But do have another tier 1 under NDA which we can't discuss. As mentioned the digital asset space has matured and I'm pretty sure more and more traditional exchanges will be listing more digital assets along traditional instruments and derivatives.

Question(s):

What could be the panoramic view of the industrial protocols (HART, ZigBee, OBD, etc in the present) viewed through the use of blockchains by Overledger implementation?

Answer(s):

We have been surprised and forward thinking the IoT space is especially with our involvement in MOBI. The applications for this are huge and we've even made prototypes of only allowing a physical device to turn on and operate once a payment has been made. It's a game changer and we're glad to be heavily active in this space. The thing we like, is that there can be many protocols and platforms. They can be more effective and beneficial if they all interoperate. Create a new iecosystem of M2M, B2B, B2C, B2B2C applications.

Question(s):

What does Quant team think of Oraclize offering Hardware Security Modules (HSMs)supported by Trusted Execution Environment? Can we expect some progress from Quant's side in this space?

Answer(s):

We are already starting to integrate into HSMs. All financial services networks need to use HSMs to manage key exchanges to comply to regulation. We're being proactive to build that capability into Overledger today.

Question(s):

How is work progressing with HMRC and could GoVerify become a replacement for gov.uk's failed Verify service? Has client demand for GoVerify remained strong?

Answer(s):

Gov UK Verify is again authenticating the citizen to organisations. We're doing the reverse. Authenticating the organisation to the consumer.

We're doing a big push to clients to help tackle the source of fraud: GoVerify protects people from impersonation and deception fraud by validating the correspondence received from a trusted organisation is genuine without have to disclose any personal information.

Question(s):

What additional features can we expect with the full Mapp store release?

Answer(s):

Question(s):

You mentioned an Overledger dashboard to track volume/transactions in the future. Is this an immediate goal, or something perhaps for later in the year?

Answer(s):

Yes the first dashboard is already in the developer portal. We're expanding that out to show more metrics to the public, kind of like the pulse of Overledger as it is running

Question(s):

You've mentioned Stellar and Corda as two Blockchains you are looking to connect .. Have you seen strong customer demand for any other Blockchains to connect to Overledger? Are other Chain developers looking to connect themselves?

Answer(s):

Our Enterprise customers have been asking for Corda and now Stellar which we're working on. Another client uses a version of Hyperledger which already have connectors for. But we're looking at market demand to add others. The on-ramp patterns are published and anyone can start creating their own connectors and submit to us to review and approve to add to Overledger.

Question(s):

Once the new marketing hire signs the papers, can she start straight away marketing Quant or does she need to fulfill a term on her previous job?

Answer(s):

Plus we have a new hire we can announce later this month. She's an award winning FinTech leader who's joining us from HSBC in a leadership position within Quant.

Question(s):

Awesome, thank you again Gilbert! Congratulations on all the impressive progress.

Answer(s):

Great. thank you all for your support and contribution. We value all your feedbak and contribution. There's a lot we're working on and we can't wait to share more updates with you!
